Run Club Legends
5K, 10K, or just OK, for Runners Need, it’s not how far you run that matters it’s that you lace up, step out, and just go running. To celebrate another year of Runners Need JustRun run club we've interviewed three JustRun legends who have put the hours and miles in at the flagship Runners Need in Clapham Junction.
For anyone who is looking to join a run club but isn’t sure where or how to get started, the JustRun legends, Cade, Charlotte, and Jemma have answers to all your questions!
If you’re already a keen runner and just want to feel appreciated, each free weekly run earns you exclusive rewards. After your first three runs, you’ll get an exclusive goody bag and a JustRun t-shirt. Plus, for every 10 stamps (one per run) you’ll receive £10 to spend in-store or online. Spend your stamps as you earn them or save them up, the choice is yours.
What would your advice be to anyone who wants to join a run club but is unsure?
“Joining a run club can be intimidating, especially if you are uncertain how your skills will match up with the other members of the club. That is what is so great about a run club like JustRun. There is a wide range of skills and speeds so everyone can fit in.
Finding a club that is inclusive and welcoming to new members is important, especially if you are looking for a way to stay motivated to improve your fitness, or if you are not interested in competitive racing.”
What makes you come back week on week?
“Primarily, JustRun has become a social staple of my week. I have made a group of friends there that both run and socialise together as well as support each other in races and challenges.
On a weekly basis, it is also really great to have a group of running friends that push each other and understand each other's running styles. We wordlessly take it in turns to pace each other and motivate each other to run harder or faster.”
How experienced were you when you first started with the run club and how has your running ability changed since then?
“I used to run with another run club prior to joining JustRun in Clapham Junction, but the maximum I would have run would have been 5-10km. Since joining the club I now run 10km regularly and have done four half-marathons so far.”
